In the last week of September, the team at Building Careers UK swapped their suits for hard hats and hi-vis jackets, teaming up with local clients to raise money for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

The construction recruiters teamed up with local social housing providers and construction companies to learn more about the professions they recruit for; from labouring on site to liaising with tenants.

The premise of our annual ‘Day in Industry’ is that BCUK Consultants complete a day’s work on site or in the office for a local client in the specialist field they recruit for. This provides hands on assistance to the client and helps us provide a more bespoke, quality service through depth of knowledge of the ins and outs of the businesses we work in partnership with. At the end of the day on site or in office, BCUK consultants are paid their day’s wage in the form of a donation to charity by the client.

Our chosen charity is Claire House Children’s Hospice, which offers care, support and choice to families whose children won’t live to be adults. The Hospice itself is based on the Wirral, but Claire House provides care and support across the North West, whether families choose to come to the hospice or are looked after at home.

So far this year, we’ve raised over £1000 for Claire House, and it’s great to see that number is rising. We had a great response from our clients, and our team thoroughly enjoyed their day out!

Emma Hughes, our Manchester Trades and Labour Specialist worked with Pochin Construction for the day:
“It was great to spend time on site with Pochins. They showed me the ropes and I was really welcomed into the team! I loved getting stuck in – I even got to use a drone! Big thanks to Pochins for supporting the cause as a company, and also to the guys on site for being so generous, throwing in extra cash too.”

Our Principal Construction Specialist Kris Convery joined Remstone Construction:
“Thanks to MD Chris for letting me join the team for the day. It was great to get to grips with the ins and outs of the project and even better that we raised money for such a great charity.”

Big thanks to all our clients who got involved on the day; GIA, Bellway, Goodwin Construction, Remstone Construction, HMS, Structec, Buckingham Group and M&Y Maintenance.

If you’d still like to be involved, you can support our cause financially! Even a few pounds can go a long way. Please feel free to donate on our Justgiving page.
