To help celebrate the milestone of turning 10, Building Careers UK has teamed up with Alder Hey Children’s Charity, who raise vital funds to help deliver lifesaving and life changing research, and make Alder Hey a truly world class, patient friendly hospital for the 300,000 patients and families they look after every year.

In the first week of October, the team at Building Careers UK swapped their suits for hard hats and Hi-vis jackets for an event called ‘A Day in Industry’ teaming up with local clients to raise money for this excellent cause.

The construction recruiters teamed up with local social housing providers and construction companies to learn more about the professions they recruit for; from labouring on site to liaising with tenants.

The premise of our annual ‘Day in Industry’ is that BCUK consultants complete a day’s work on site or in the office for a local client in the specialist field they recruit for. This provides hands on assistance to the client and helps us provide a more bespoke, quality service through depth of knowledge of the ins and outs of the businesses we work in partnership with. At the end of the day on site or in office, BCUK consultants are paid their day’s wage in the form of a donation to charity by the client.

So far we’ve raised a whopping £1652.96 from this event! We’d like to thank the clients that took part on the day and kindly donated to this wonderful cause; Cobalt Housing, Bardsley Construction, Priory Asset Management, Bellway Homes, Casey Group, Jones Melling, Bowmer and Kirkland and HMS. They’ve helped bring our charity total for the year to £2271 so far, and we have over six months to go to hit target…

Jonathan Kirby, our Property & Surveying Specialist worked with Jones Melling for the day:
“It was great to spend time with the team – I felt really welcomed! Big thanks to Jones Melling for supporting us and Alder Hey.”

Our Trades Specialist Joanne Fisher joined Nobles Construction:
“I loved spending time on site with Nobles– they showed me the ropes then let me get stuck in. It was great to get to know them better, all while raising funds for such a good cause. Thanks to all the team for having me!”
