This week (6th – 10th March) marks the 10th National Apprenticeship Week, which is being celebrated across the country, commending a decade of successful apprenticeships and encouraging more people to choose this path as a route to fast track career success.
Sue Husband, Director of National Apprenticeship Service, has said at this morning’s launch event at Canary Wharf; “Apprentices are on the path to a great career with an apprenticeship; and for employers, apprenticeships bring opportunity: to attract new talent, to offer progression for current staff, and to develop a motivated and highly qualified workforce. With apprenticeships available in 1500 job roles and covering more than 170 industries – there has never been a better time to get involved in apprenticeships.”

Team is one of our values and also one of the cornerstones to our business model. A core part of our team is made up of apprentices, past and present. We are so proud of these team members for many reasons; gaining an NVQ while providing essential roles to our business, getting stuck into the world of work, fitting in so well with our crazy team, and not least, of the changes we’ve seen from first interview stage to where they are now, sticking with us in more senior roles at BCUK, or even those moved on to pastures new and exciting. We endeavour to foster a supportive environment to nuture the strengths of our apprentices, and help them face any weaknesses they feel they have too.
One of our current apprentices, Amy Henderson, Business Administrator says; "I wanted to get some hands on experience of a workplace after I left school, and it's been so fun joining Building Careers. From the start, everyone has been so wecloming and supportive, which has allowed me to develop my strengths- and face some fears! It'll also be great to get an extra qualification on my CV at the same time."
Of our apprentices, BCUK Director Tamsin Marlowe has said; “We wouldn’t be where we are without our apprentices, and we’re thrilled so many have come so far with us. Some of our apprentices have been here for 3 years, having gained their NVQ and stayed with us. We have apprentices in multiple roles across our business and we are looking forward to recruiting more in the near future across the North West.”
