Job Description

Working with a leading national building contractor we have an exciting opportunity for an individual to prove their desire, passion and ultimately ability to progress to a role of fully fledged Design Manager.

Our client are a multi-award winning, privately owned contractor who have a long history of delivering prestigious multi-million pound projects across the UK. Their Northern office, located in Manchester, are continuing a strong period of recent growth and have a number of high profile contract wins with work in place until at least 2020. Their place on local frameworks will see work continue much beyond that too.

Given this ongoing growth in work won they are increasing their workforce in the Manchester office to oversee such work. With this they have this exciting opportunity to help an ambitious individual to progress towards Design Management.
The individual should possess degree level knowledge in design or construction and have a strong understanding of the design & build process from tender stage to completion. This could come from a current similar role or maybe a site based management role.

The successful candidate will assist the Design Manager to oversee the design process on specific projects, working to agreed deadlines and promote the integration of design disciplines and supply chain.

Key responsibilities;
Review and comment on design information in conjunction with design manager.
* Review and comment on tender returns for compliance or VE opportunity.
* Generate Contractors Proposals in conjunction with design manager.
* Gain an understanding of BIM and how to manage BIM.
* Assist estimator / commercial manager to ensure a robust all round tender.
* Assist with design specific tender responses within overall submission document.
* Produce Information Release Schedules (IRS's) in conjunction with the Design Manager.
* Assist in the production of a risk and opportunities schedule.
* Monitor and track planning and building control conditions to ensure these are closed out in the required timescales.
* Monitor BREEAM compliance and progress.
* Review consultant design information, comment on drawings via Conject.
* Understand and implement the project information issue process.
* Review and monitor status of RFIs.
* Produce design team meeting minutes.
* Complete design change request forms / register and forward instructions to the design team.
* Update the samples schedule as items are approved.
* Contribute to monthly client report (design report).
* Review O&M information to ensure it is project specific.

Requirements;
* A completed a construction related qualification including degree, HNC/HND.
* IT literate with competency in the use of software packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Full UK Driving License.
* Previous work experience is desirable but not essential.
* Flexible team member
* Ability to communicate positively and effectively
* Analytical, Practical and proactive.
