Job Description

Our client - Your New Business:

One of the region's most well-known housing organisations have branched into contracting and are growing their operation rapidly across the North West. This social housing contractor, an independent business entity to the trust, are expanding into NHS, housing and commercial property contracts. Together, we are offering an exceptional opportunity to join the business at this exciting time of expansion into the region, working on a variety of refurbishment and new build projects.

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor based in the stunning Warrington offices, you will support the Quantity Surveying team on a number of new and existing projects. Gaining valuable exposure to subcontractor procurement and schedule management, you'll experience a steep but engaging learning curve, whilst helping to ensure the correct procedures are followed, and the commercial team is supported in maximising project value throughout.

Your duties and responsibilities as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the client businesses and ensure reports (including board reports, CVRs and schedules) to the client and the Directors are accurate and timely
* Support in the management of subcontractor packages (including ground-workers, cladders and roofers, for example), helping to maintain performance against programmes/schedules
* Feed appropriate subcontractor information into the Quantity Surveying team and the client as appropriate, as well as support the business in the negotiation of potential and live variations to contract and values
* Support in the forecasting of predicted spends and cash flows, and prepare CVRs, cost reports and final accounts information as appropriate
* Ensure submission of payment applications and work with the Senior QS and subcontractors to ensure payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with terms
* Work with other staff across the business and across subcontractors to help keep projects on time and to cost

Your skills and experience required:

You will be suitably qualified for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position (HND in construction or a similar, or superseding qualification including a degree in Quantity Surveying, for example). Experience in new build or extensive refurbishment work will be an advantage, but most importantly you will show an eye for detail, an ability to handle negotiations and exhibit an ambitious, driven attitude. You'll also be a relationship-builder, able to successfully manage different personalities across site, offices, clients and subcontractors.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

An excellent package is on offer here, including a salary of £25,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience and your current situation). My client is willing to pay above market rate to secure the right person for the role.
You'll also be taking a step towards a long, prosperous career as a commercial construction professional with an exceptional social housing contractor that is going from strength to strength in the North West.
