Company Type: Civil Engineering Contractor

Location: Bolton

You will be working for a growing civil engineering and groundworks contractor, working across a wide array of sectors such as commercial, residential, education, renewable energy and highways.

Having established themselves as a trusted partner to a number of main contractors and developers, there is now the desire to bring in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who can be developed and moulded into the commercial lead for the business, working directly alongside the two Directors.

This represents an excellent opportunity for either a recent Quantity Surveying Graduate interested in a career in civil engineering or a post-graduate with 1-2 years' experience looking for a long term opportunity with huge potential.

To be applicable for this opportunity, you must be a current (or soon to be) graduate with a BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent. Industry experience such as a placement year or post-graduate position within another main contractor will be seen as highly advantageous.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* To provide comprehensive financial and surveying related information as required by Senior Management.
* Measuring from drawings and compiling bills of quantities.
* To measure and record works in preparation for valuations and final accounts.
* Record and agree any extra works and day works.
* Record all relevant events for delay and loss and expense claims.
* Monitor and ensure that full payment is received for all work claimed and certified.
* Measurement of operatives work for the monetary payment system.
* Liaise with client representatives and other members of the team to ensure effective communications and a cohesive working environment.
* Maintain diary.
* Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

Key Competencies:

* BSc in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent (essential)
* Demonstrable experience gained as a post-graduate or through industrial placement (desirable)
* Full UK driving license.

Demonstrable understanding of the construction industry, current trends and role responsibilities.
