Job Description

Your New Employer:

This is a well-known main contractor with an easily recognisable, household name, a driven culture and a track record in developing market-leading commercial professionals through exposure to a variety of new build social housing schemes across the North West.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor based in the stunning Warrington offices, you will support the Quantity Surveying team on a new build housing scheme starting in May 2017. Gaining valuable exposure to subcontractor procurement and management as well as specialist direct labour/management teams, you'll experience a steep but engaging learning curve, whilst helping to ensure the correct procedures are followed, and the commercial team is supported in maximising project value throughout.

Your duties and responsibilities as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the client businesses and ensure reports (including board reports, CVRs and schedules) to the client and the Directors are accurate and timely
* Work closely on the management of subcontractor packages (including ground-workers, cladders and roofers, for example), helping to maintain performance against programmes/schedules and feed appropriate subcontractor information to the rest of the Quantity Surveying team
* Support the business in the negotiation of potential and live variations to contract and values
* Support in the forecasting of predicted spends and cash flows, and prepare CVRs, cost reports and final accounts information as appropriate
* Ensure submission of payment applications and work with the Senior QS and subcontractors to ensure payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with terms
* Work with other staff across the business and across subcontractors to help keep projects on time and to cost

Your skills and experience required:

You will be suitably qualified for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor Position (HND in construction or a similar, or superseding qualification including a degree in Quantity Surveying, for example) and have a minimum of 12 months' experience experience in new build or extensive refurbishment environment. Experience working for a main contractor would be ideal, however experience with specialist contractors or subcontractors in new build environments will also lend itself nicely to starting a fruitful career with this reputable organisation.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

An excellent package is on offer here, including a salary of £25,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience and your current situation). My client is willing to pay above market rate to secure the right person for the role, and there's an impressive benefits package on offer here too, including market leading holidays and pension schemes.

You'll also be taking a step towards a long, prosperous career as a commercial construction professional with an exceptional social housing contractor that is going from strength to strength in the North West. You'll be offered extensive on-the-job training and coaching, as well as a fast-track development programme to gain promotion to Project QS level inside 12 months.
