Job Description

Building Careers UK Ltd are working with a medium sized civil engineering and highways contractor based in the North West who are recruiting for a Commercial Assistant. Working alongside the commercial team on long-term framework contracts with Local Councils and Transport Authorities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Manage the process of, tenders and quotations & PQQ submissions including issuing material & sub-contractor enquiries and negotiating pre-submission prices.
* Procurement of materials / services (site specific) and annual contracts.
* Developing and managing supply chain including appraisals and reviews and rebates
* Development & implementation of company marketing strategy
* Business development
* Internal & external communications including works for and on behalf of clients



Essential Skills:

* Logical approach to problem solving with strong maths/engineering base
* Proven communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work independently and to strict deadlines
* Experience in procurement or business development
* Driving License
* Working knowledge of MS Word & MS Excel
* Understanding of the construction industry



Desirable Skills:

* Experience with sub-contractors
* CIPS qualification or similar
* Working knowledge of MS Project
* Experience in bid writing of PQQ submissions
* Working knowledge of NEC 3 / JCT
* Influencer
* Trainer / mentor
