Our client - Your New Business:

Our client is a renowned regional New Build Contractor operating across the North West, with an established and continuously growing office in the Manchester area. This £40m+ turnover client is an organisation with more than 50 years' experience, and as such they have developed long running relationships with several high profile developers and authorities across the residential, student accommodation and commercial sectors.

Their excellent reputation has been forged through the continuing delivery of exceptional projects valuing up to £15m across a variety of sectors. Managed by a dynamic and astute Managing Director, who contributes hugely to the practical running and operations of the business, this exceptional client have a reputation for looking after their staff, customers and suppliers.

As the Commercial Manager, you will take regional responsibility for all live and future jobs, supporting, developing and managing a team of competent and experienced commercial professionals - including estimators, three Senior Surveyors and a group of promising Assistant / Intermediate Surveyors. Based in Manchester, you'll operate across the North West region, ensuring the overall value and profitability across the projects is maximised, and communication and delivery to the numerous clients (in the residential, social housing, education and healthcare sectors) is timely, accurate and industry-leading.

Your duties and responsibilities as Commercial Manager:

* Maintain and report commercial information on live and future projects to the Managing Director and other project stakeholders
* Develop and lead a successful and efficient commercial team, capable of running projects to an industry-leading standard
* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with clients and suppliers, ensuring communication at all levels inside and outside the business is exemplary
* Supervise, mentor and encourage all subordinate staff in their personal professional development, including ensuring assistant quantity surveyors' participation in the management of subcontractors

Your skills and experience required:

You will hold an HND in Construction (or a related subject) or above qualification, although a commercial manager who demonstrates significant experience will also be considered. Your experience in design and build projects will be essential, and you will be able to demonstrate an ability to manage a team of Senior, Intermediate and Assistant Quantity Surveyors, as well as other commercial staff (including estimators).

You'll show strong leadership, relationship-building and negotiation skills, as well as demonstrate an eye for detail, and be able to alert the business to prospective money-making opportunities.

You will be comfortable acting as a regional commercial manager (across a number of projects) and an ability to ensure maximum profitability across the business' operations will be crucial - so a keen eye for detail is important, whether it's through yourself or through your development of a competent team.

Experience in the high-rise, social housing (new build) or residential sectors would also be desirable. You will be a strong leader, someone who takes the bull by the horns and drives projects forward - ensuring things get done to cost and to schedule.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a package totalling up to £65k - £70k including a car/car allowance and significant fringe benefits including a mobile phone, lap top, contributory pension and flexible working arrangements.
