Job Description

Our client is a well-established Manchester based refurbishment / fit-out contractor with a proven track record in delivering projects on time and within budget.

The current market is extremely competitive, which has led to the planned expansion of the business which includes an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join their Manchester team.

Whether the project is office, retail, leisure, education or technology sector they are a specialist and have an experienced team to carry out fit out or refurbishment projects.

The company works on projects up to £10m and has an exemplary record for high spec and quality.

* Please see below a brief of what our client requires:

* To assist in the management and preparation of tenders and pitches
* Ownership of Bob resource management tool - setting up plan for each submission with sales lead, lead design and build at point of output and ensuring that this is maintained and adhered to by all - escalation of risk to the mgt team where this has slippage
* Ownership and review of tender documentation coming into the business - distribution of the same through the team, and ownership of review of contents to highlight key requirements to the mgt team
* Assist in the estimation (if skill sets allow) and costing process
* Send enquiries so supply chain - either through the construction team or direct
* Regular liaison with pitch team to ensure activity deadlines are being maintained
* Documentation production, collation and proof checking prior to printing and issue
* If QS skilled, then provides strength in depth on commercial management of projects
* Ensure compliancy with our submissions, or ensure that areas of non-compliancy are fully understood by all
* Develop option proposals in conjunction with the pitch team for client review
* Organise site inspections as required - supported by construction team as necessary
* Ensure that contract amendment proposals are checked and verified
* Ownership of PQQ production and submissions

Job Description:

* Ideally from an QS/estimating background
* Role is to support the bid team in a variety of differing tender & pitch submissions - from very traditional pre-designed construction tenders, through to full design & build pitches.
* Role would require strong management of bid timelines (supported by database software tool) and regular communication and liaison with the pitch team throughout the duration of the tender/pitch, up to and including presentation.
* Requirement to fully understand the content and requirements of each tender, management of tender documentation, together with clarification and distribution through the team, enabling sense check of all output for compliancy with the tender / brief requirements prior to issue.
* Would require presentation of proposed submission to internal review team for review and sanction
* Development of good relations with supply chain, including regular feedback and communication on success or otherwise of projects where they have supported us.
* Proven track record and good communication skills are a necessity.
* Ability to take off quantities and populate internal costing schedules would be an advantage, as would knowledge of MS Project
* Good knowledge of the tender process, especially within Design & Build is required. Experience in interior fit out and refurbishment would be of added benefit
* Ability to offer option engineering and value engineering skills would be of very real benefit.
