Job Description

Our Client, Your New Business:

Over the last few years, this business - one of our best clients - has experienced significant growth across refurbishment and new build environments in social housing. A fantastic, strategically placed office in Merseyside has led to the creation of long term partnerships with public sector organisations, and combined with an industry-leading bids and tenders team the business has successfully expanded into the private and commercial sectors.

Recent contract wins for major organisations have meant the need for a commercially minded Estimator with refurbishment experience has arisen. Joining the business now is an exceptional opportunity, as there are significant, cemented plans for growth over the coming months with sizeable frameworks and commercial refurbishment works in the pipeline. A great opportunity to go in and make your mark.
As Estimator, you will carry out the below duties to ensure projects run smoothly, to time and to cost, as well as ensuring the satisfaction of the clients:

The Estimator role:

In this newly created position, which has come about due to the significant expansion and successful winning of work (including longevity in framework agreements), you will be expected to carry out Estimator duties as below. This list is not exhaustive and there remains a lot of flexibility for you to make the role your own.
* Submit pricing and estimates for prospective works and contribute to the completion and submission of tenders for work, as well as working closely with operational teams to keep projects as close to cost as possible, thereby ensuring the continued satisfaction of several clients
* Maintain a strong working relationship with the client(s) over a multitude of on-going prospective projects, with a particular focus on proactive value engineering by ensuring correct specifications and plans are obtained and reviewed
* Prepare budgets and cost plans, and ensure the adjudication and negotiation of subcontractor accounts as appropriate
* Negotiate variations with main contractors / customers and ensure maximum productivity across contracts
* Ensure the submission of relevant contract updates, including potential programme delays, issues or variations - to the business and to the client/customer where appropriate
* Supervise, mentor and encourage any subordinate staff in their personal and professional development, including ensuring assistant estimators and quantity surveyors' participation in the management of subcontractors
* Monitor subcontractors against programme and ensure direct reports do likewise and offer advice and support on problem areas

Your skills and experience required:

* You will be suitably qualified for an Estimator position, with demonstrable experience of working either in a new build or a refurbishment / maintenance environment
* Social Housing contractor or client experience would be an advantage but is by no means necessary
* A keen eye for detail is crucial, as is an ability to maintain strong, proactive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and use these to effectively negotiate and support bid teams in winning work competitively
* You'll have a demonstrable record in accurate estimating and pricing across a multitude of projects
* Strong negotiation skills will be essential to maximising project value and minimising costs when dealing with the clients and subcontractors

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer an exceptional salary and package (above market rate) to secure the right individual - a highly competitive salary plus industry leading benefits including excellent holiday allowances and a bonus scheme.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an Estimator to join an established and continuously growing specialist contractor, operating successfully across the North West with high profile clients - including commercial healthcare and educational business.

This is a real opportunity to develop your career and commercial reputation in a highly reputable market.
Please get in touch today with George Lucking, Commercial Specialist on 0151 230 1690 / 07860 270 738 for more details on opportunities available, or apply direct below with your CV.
