Job Description

Your New Business:

A £20m turnover business specialising in mechanical and electrical (M&E) services in housing, commercial and industrial environments, this organisation has 20 years' experience in providing high quality services to refurbishment and new build projects. Based in Merseyside, they have developed strong working partnerships with a variety of public sector, housing association and private sector organisations (including property developers, property managers and commercial clients).

The business' sustained growth has been built upon the timely delivery of projects to an excellent standard - getting things right first time. This has generated significant repeat business and an order book that is predicting continued significant growth. You'll be joining a commercial team based in Merseyside, who support a busy operational team across the North West region. You'll be exposed to a variety of workload and projects, as well as have the opportunity to work with a friendly and committed team whilst continuing to develop your career.

The Estimator / Surveyor role - duties and responsibilities

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and driven Estimator / Surveyor to join a growing business with a secure client base, with a varied workload. In the new role, you will be responsible for the below:

* Interpreting plans and drawings and visiting sites to conduct estimates and work with the tendering team to produce competitive and work-winning pricing and documentation
* Submit pricing and estimates for prospective works and contribute to the completion and submission of tenders for work, as well as working closely with operational teams to keep projects as close to cost as possible, thereby ensuring the continued satisfaction of a multitude of high profile clients
* Forecast predicted spends, forecast project cash flows and get involved with the preparation and negotiation of final accounts where appropriate (including negotiation of variations where appropriate)
* Work closely with the Quantity Surveying team, helping to monitor subcontractors and suppliers against programmes, and ensuring that internal and external stakeholders are provided with contract updates to keep projects to schedule
* Support the existing commercial team in maintaining and coordinating cost and value reporting covering both direct and indirect costs - in compliance with the commercial reporting timetable
Your skills and experience required:
* You will be suitably qualified for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor role (ideally with a minimum of an HND in quantity surveying or a similar subject area).
* You'll have experience with pre-contract work, including involvement with estimating and pricing. A mechanical or electrical background will be advantageous but not essential
* More critical is a demonstrable experience of pre-contract involvement, and an ability to work with the tendering team to contribute to robust, successful tenders, as well as strong negotiation skills being highly desirable during your involvement with the Quantity Surveying team

If you are a quantity surveyor rather than estimator, this is also something that my client and I are interested in - specifically if you have pre-contract involvement in a refurbishment, fit-out and M&E environment.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer a salary of £40,000 plus a competitive package, including strong holiday allowances and development plans for your career.

Please get in touch today with George Lucking, Commercial Specialist on 0151 230 1690 / 07860 270 738 for more details on opportunities available, or apply direct below with your CV.
