Job Description

Well known Merseyside construction contractor are looking to appoint a Health & Safety Manager to manage their Health & Safety performance across all construction operations - £40,000 - £45,000 salary plus car allowance and excellent benefits package

Our client is a regional contractor in Merseyside with an excellent reputation. Historically known for delivering new build projects up to around £10m, they have recently secured further work, and larger projects up to £20m in and around Merseyside. This expansion and increased workload has meant that the services of a consultant are no longer sufficient, and this £30m turnover SME is now looking to appoint a full time, in-house Health & Safety Manager.

This is an exciting role and a perfect step in your Health & Safety career. With the policies and procedures, audits systems and the over-riding management system all blank canvasses, you'll have the opportuinity to develop these from scratch - making them fit the organisation's culture perfectly, as well as growing a positive Health & Safety culture from day one.

The successful candidate will:

* Have Health & Safety Manager or Health & Safety Advisor experience at a main contractor
* Have experience of presiding over new build construction projects, either in residential, high-rise or commercial projects (or a combination thereof)
* Understand the relevant risks and how to mitigate them, without compromising the pace of a job/project
* Be passionate and engaging about Health & Safety on site, with a pragmatic approach to Health & Safety management
* Ideally have experience of managing a Health & Safety (and Environmental) management system

ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 experience would be an advantage (but is not necessary), more important is your passion and your ability to build a relationship with site teams, directors and subcontractors, gaining their buy in to drive good Health & Safety practice across all sites at all times. The site teams have a reputation for being hot on Health & Safety, so you'll have support at ground level from the word go, making this an exciting and rewarding challenge.

Salary is £40,000 - £45,000 per annum + Car/Allowance, and you'll have the opportunity to step into this Health & Safety Manager role as the number one Health & Safety person in the business. An excellent career step.
