Job Description

Our client - Your New Business:

The business is one of the North West's best specialist subcontractors working on high profile major projects in the Merseyside area. Known for their timely, high quality delivery of industrial and internal painting and decorating packages, they have built a strong reputation and are continuing to secure repeat business from major clients - including top 10 contractors.

As workload increases on a major Liverpool-based project, the business is seeking a junior quantity surveyor / assistant quantity surveyor to work on this high profile project, supporting the site teams in maximising efficiency and value on a large industrial painting and decorating package.
As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor based on this exciting project, you will support the Senior Quantity Surveyor by building strong relationships with the client and your operational teams. Gaining valuable exposure to all aspects of a quantity surveyor role, you'll experience a steep but engaging learning curve, whilst helping to ensure the correct procedures and support the senior QS in maximising project value throughout.

Your duties and responsibilities as a Junior Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the client business and ensure reports (including board reports, CVRs and schedules) to the client and the Directors are accurate, timely and forewarn of any potential issues
* Feed appropriate commercial information into the Senior Quantity Surveyor and the client as appropriate, as well as support the business in the negotiation of potential and live variations to contract and values
* Support in the forecasting of predicted spends and cash flows, and prepare CVRs, cost reports and final accounts information as appropriate
* Ensure submission of payment applications and work with the Senior QS and subcontractors to ensure payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with terms
* Work with other staff across the business to help keep the project on time and to cost

Your skills and experience required:

Based in Liverpool and/or the surrounding areas, you will be studying towards your degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a similar subject area. Being on day release is no problem - the business will support your learning and development whilst giving you exposure to a fantastic project to have on your CV.
Ideally, you'll have experience in a trainee or placement QS position, or another junior role, in construction environments - but your attitude and enthusiasm as well as your willingness to learn will be the most important factor. You'll also be a relationship-builder, able to successfully manage different personalities across site, offices, and clients.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

An excellent package is on offer here, including a salary of £25,000 (depending on experience and your current situation). My client is willing to pay above market rate to secure the right person for the role.
You'll also be taking a step towards a long, prosperous career as a commercial construction professional with an exceptional regional subcontractor that is going from strength to strength in the North West.

Please get in touch today with George Lucking, Commercial Specialist on 0151 230 1690 / 07860 270 738 for more details on opportunities available, or apply direct below with your CV.
