Procurement Quantity Surveyor
Job DescriptionOur client is a leading PLC Major Contractor who operates across mixed use development and construction. Their unique approach gives them a breadth of experience and skill to maximise value, quality and use of space where others would fall short. They build schemes well in excess of £100m across the country.
Due to contract awards our client requires an additional materials buyer for the offices in Chester. Duties include:
Main Responsibilities: The following tasks are not in priority order
1 Measure quantities from drawings.
2 Issue detailed tender enquiries.
3 Analyse and negotiate most competitive tenders based on cost, programme, performance and quality.
4 Submit detailed tender analysis to Procurement Director for approval.
5 Monitor and review procurement - including placing subcontract orders and ensure they arrive accurately presented, checked, on-time and within budget.
6 Ensure all subcontract orders are signed and returned by the subcontractor in a timely manner.
7 Instruct the issue of warrantee documents to the appropriate subcontractors.
8 Attend post tender, pre-start, management and design team meetings.
9 Share information with colleagues to encourage flow of information.
10 Working to deadlines set by the Procurement Director and others within the team.
11 Ensure continuous communication with other team members to review contract progress and address immediately associated issues.
12 Attending site weekly (or as required) to review issues including providing solutions and advice to ensure successful project completion.
13 Identify and review key performance indicators with Procurement Director.
14 Ensuring filing of site project correspondence is maintained.
15 Review adjustment to costs to be pursued on old contracts.
16 Identify training needs of team members and liaise with Training Manager.
17 Ensure best value and quality
18 Be proactive in promoting company for future projects.
19 Provide annual leave cover during absence of team members.
20 Mentor of assigned Assistant QS in line with development review objectives and attend development review meetings.
In summary they are looking for someone with Sub-C0ntract Procurement experience ideally in the role at present or from a Quantity Surveyor background.
