Established over 50 yrs. ago, our client has successfully completed many schemes ranging from £0.5 million to £60 million.

From their head office in Cheshire the board have established a strong team specialising in design and build schemes with internal expertise in a number of construction solutions.

Key projects include hotels, residential schemes, care homes, leisure facilities and retail and commercial units for both private and public sector projects. Our clients highly experienced team has been recruited from a wide range of construction sectors and ensures that they can confidently embark on any project knowing that the right team and knowledge base is in place. Due to volume of work our client is looking to expand their current buying team and has an immediate need for a Procurement OR Assistant Procurement QS. This is a permanent position

Main Responsibilities: The following tasks are not in priority order

1 Create and issue enquiries. 2. Obtaining competitive quotations for subcontract packages by negotiating most competitive position to include programme, performance and quality. 3. Creating spreadsheets for subcontract tender comparisons. 4. Phone subcontractors to identify if they are able to carry out work or interested in tendering. 5. Type orders. 6. Attend meetings with sub-contractors in conjunction with mentor 7. Measure material requirements from drawings and measurements 8. Delegate copies of drawings, filing and photocopying to team administrator 9. Share information with colleagues to encourage flow of information and share issues and concerns 10. Occasionally attend meetings 11. Other tasks as required

Knowledge, skills and experience required:  Working towards qualification level of NVQ 4, Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent experience.  Able to read and interpret drawings  Ability to carry out standard take offs  Developing negotiation skills in order to negotiate best value packages  Excellent communication and time management skills  Working knowledge of Building Regulations  Basic knowledge of Word & Excel
