Job Description

Our client - Your New Business:

This is an excellent chance to work for a renowned, national building contractor specialising in student accommodation and high rise commercial projects. A large, £multi-million turnover business, they have a reputation for quality, speedy delivery of projects in city centre locations and their savvy commercial team is taking advantage of strong market conditions - meaning their order book is continuously full.

Based in the office in the Runcorn area, and travelling to your allocated project, this Quantity Surveyor vacancy offers the opportunity to manage the procurement and performance of substantial subcontractor packages on a £24m project. You'll also get the opportunity to spend time in some of the most lively cities in the UK (depending on where your project is located) - and be paid handsomely for it.

Your duties and responsibilities as Quantity Surveyor:

* Procure and manage several subcontractor packages of varying sizes, and ensure they are dealt with fairly and in accordance with all contract paperwork
* Maintain and report commercial information on the live project, and the performance of subcontractors (and other suppliers) against estimates, budgets and schedules
* Ensure payment applications are dealt with in a timely manner and in the most cost effective way
* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with clients as well as your suppliers/subcontractors, ensuring communication at all levels inside and outside the business is exemplary
* Supervise, mentor and encourage Assistant Quantity Surveyors in their personal professional development where appropriate, including ensuring their involvement in keeping subcontractors to their agreed contract and schedule

Your skills and experience required:

You will hold a minimum of an HND in Construction, or a degree in quantity surveying or similar subject. You'll have experience in main contracting, ideally in a new build environment (although large scale refurbishment experience will also be considered). With a keen eye for detail and an ability to maximise value, you'll have experience in procuring quality subcontractor packages (as well as some materials where required), and managing these packages accordingly - ensuring the performance of the suppliers links perfectly with maximising value on the live job.

You will be expected to travel to your allocated project, which could be in any one city in the UK. Travel will be overnight and fairly regular (although not necessarily every week).

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a salary of up to £45,000 plus a car/car allowance and significant fringe benefits including a mobile phone, lap top, contributory pension and flexible working arrangements, as well as clear career progression.
The package will be negotiable depending on experience.

This is an exceptional Quantity Surveyor post for national new build contractor, boasting an opportunity to further enhance your Quantity Surveyor career.
