Job Description

The business

A client we know extremely well, this £50m+ turnover business is a regional main contractor operating across an exciting variety of project sectors in Liverpool, ranging from new build housing, office blocks and retail units, to refurbishment and maintenance of council properties, schools and healthcare buildings.

Based in new offices in Liverpool, this well-known regional organisation will provide you with a fast paced, challenging environment, where you'll be given an exceptional opportunity to excel in a variety of QS fields across projects of different values (from £50k to £10m). They've also recently been recognised for being one of the North West's top companies to work for… and we are inviting you to join this growing, successful team in a newly created expansion-driven Quantity Surveyor role.

The Quantity Surveyor role

As an experienced Quantity Surveyor, you will be joining a business that is established, successful but whose ambition and drive to excel is relentless. You'll look after a selection of projects, managing their value against tender and contract documents and support the development of an excellent graduate QS.

Amongst other things, your key duties will be:

* Ensuring that contract values are maximised through careful and intricate management of costs, budgets, schedules and subcontractor performance
* Maintain contract reports and ensure internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date with project progress - including the raising of any potential issues
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with operational teams, site staff, directors, clients and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of projects to budget
* Procure and manage multiple subcontractor accounts as appropriate to varying construction projects
* Forecast predicted spends and variations, and prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts
* You'll also get the chance to develop assistant quantity surveyors (should you wish to do so)

Experience required

Qualified to degree level (for example, BSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent), your strong negotiation skills, keen eye for detail and commercial astuteness will be the keys to success in this role. You'll also have demonstrable experience in a QS role, ideally managing construction or refurbishment projects.

Succeed in this role, and you'll gain exposure to a vast range of construction operations and work to becoming number one on larger construction operations. An exceptional opportunity to join a market-leading construction and property business.

You can expect a lucrative salary (up to £40k) and package, as well as exposure to several different projects to add to your CV, increasing your commercial credibility.
