Job Description

Our client, an established and recognised design & build contractor with a £100 million turnover, is looking to recruit a Senior Engineer for an £80 million new-build commercial office development in Glasgow City Centre. The project is a 13 storey steel frame block with 270,000 ft2 of office space, beginning in Jan 2020 and running for 2 full years.

The client is looking for experienced people to undertake and deliver this project to high standards and a proven track record in similar schemes and values is a must.

As a Senior Engineer you will be based on the city centre scheme, supporting and ultimately reporting into the Project Manager. As such you will be experienced in delivering prestigious, city centre schemes - minimum value £30m - with a focus on maintaining excellent quality and H&S standards. You will have experience of reinforced concrete basement structures.
You will be expected to oversee, manage and check sub-contractors and their engineering capacity on site.

The Senior Engineer role will include the following duties:

* Assisting the Project Team supervise sub-contractors
* Keeping accurate as-built records
* Communicating site information/surveys to the design team
* Instrument calibration records & compliance
* Ensuring on-site compliance with Engineers/Architects etc. specifications
* Checking technical designs and drawings to ensure that they are followed correctly
* Checking sub-contractor setting out in line with construction drawings
* Providing technical advice and solving problems on site
* Helping the Project Team resolve any unexpected technical difficulties & problems that may arise
* Identify any opportunities for value engineering
* Monitoring site survey control
* Issuing/closing out RFI's between the Site Team and Design Team
* Issuing and closing out Non-Conformance Reports where required
* Keeping an accurate daily site diary
* Completing pre-pour / post-pour inspections
* Documenting and filing all post pour information and QA
* Temporary Works: preparing design briefs for the TW Designers and checking on-site installations
* Keeping accurate ground work as-built records and quantities for the Commercial Team
* Liaising with Statutory Authorities
* Attend Weekly Progress Meetings with the Sub-Contractors
* Keeping health and safety manager/s informed on all changes which they need to be aware of.
* Ensuring that all operatives on site are working safely and within the guidelines set out by the HSE and Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems.

The successful candidate will have minimum 5 years experience operating at main contractor level on prestigious city centre schemes of minimum £30m.

The role will attract a negotiable salary around a bracket of £45000 to £55000 plus full benefits package including company car/car allowance, pension contributions and health-care plan.
