Job Description

The Senior Health & Safety Advisor / Health & Safety Manager role:

This is a fantastic construction Health & Safety Advisor position with one of the region's best contractors. From the words go, you'll be involved in high profile new build construction projects (up to the value of £15m) in the commercial, residential, student accommodation and retail sectors - managing site teams and managers to support the implementation and continuous driving of a positive Health & Safety culture.

Based in the office one day per week, you'll develop close relationships with directors and senior managers - driving Health & Safety from the top down. For the rest of your week, you'll be able to self-manage your diary; working around the various operational sites in Merseyside, Chester and Cheshire and building relationships with (sometimes challenging) construction site teams - driving a firm but fair approach to achieving a "Target Zero" approach, minimising the risk of incidents and accidents, and improving the Health & Safety performance, striving towards excellence on site.

Your skills and experience:

Being at or working towards Grad IOSH status will be ideal, as will holding or working towards the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (NVQ Level 4, for example). Anything higher than this will be highly desirable (CMIOSH for example). Experience in construction environments working for a main contractor is essential for the work you'll be looking after in this role, and you'll be able to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with construction staff and management. You'll also have experience of subcontractor monitoring and control, ensuring they are adhering to the Health & Safety terms set out in their contracts and remain loyal to your positive Health & Safety approach. Audits, inspections, risk assessments and accident reporting are all fundamental parts of the role, but it doesn't stop there.

You'll have the opportunity to work with renowned and reputable construction directors, who'll support you in the "firm but fair" implementation of your Health & Safety approach. You'll also get exposure to a diverse business, which will include a significant contribution to the reviewing and improvement of the Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems, giving you ownership of the progress in the coming years. It's a full 360-degree position, giving you the opportunity to balance hands on, site based Health & Safety with the development of the corporate Health & Safety strategy.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a salary of between £40,000 and £50,000 (depending on experience) plus a car or allowance, pension and healthcare, and a laptop, mobile phone and tablet.
