Job Description

The Senior Health & Safety Advisor role:

This is a fantastic construction Health & Safety Advisor position with one of the North West's most exciting construction contractors, offering turnkey solutions in new build, refurbishment and fit-out across retail, commercial and residential/accommodation. From the word go, you'll be involved in high profile construction projects and contracts - managing site teams and management staff, supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of a positive Health & Safety culture.

Based in the office in Lancashire, you'll develop close relationships with directors and senior managers - driving Health & Safety from the top down. Furthermore, you'll visit sites across the region to build rapport and trust with site operational teams - supporting them in conducting risk assessments, method statements and site audits - leaving you to focus on influencing behaviour and attitudes towards Health & Safety on site.

Our client - Your New Business:

Our client is a renowned regional main contractor based in Lancashire with construction operations across the North West. They are on a continuing, well-financed upward curve of growth and expansion - and an already excellent reputation makes them a fantastic employer to add to your CV, and the diversity of work and project sectors will keep you busy and challenged - with projects in the residential commercial and healthcare sectors.

With strong links to the region's NHS Trusts, Housing Associations and Educational sectors, there are historical, long term partnerships that have generated new and existing business. Known for exceptional standards and having been rewarded for being an excellent place to work, the business represents a fantastic opportunity to take a step forward on the Health & Safety ladder.

Your skills and experience:

Being at or working towards Grad IOSH status will be ideal, as will holding or working towards the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (NVQ Level 4, for example). Anything higher than this will be highly desirable (CMIOSH for example). Experience in construction environments working for a main contractor is essential for the work you'll be looking after in this role, and you'll be able to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with construction staff and management. Demonstrable experience of managing subcontractors will be key, and you'll have examples of where you've supported subcontractors in adhering to their Health & Safety promises set out in their contracts. Audits, inspections, risk assessments and accident reporting are all fundamental parts of the role, but it doesn't stop there.

You'll have the opportunity to work with renowned and reputable construction directors, who'll support you in the "firm but fair" implementation of your Health & Safety approach. You'll also get exposure to a diverse business, which will include a significant contribution to the reviewing and improvement of the Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems, giving you ownership of the progress in the coming years.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a salary of between £35,000 and £45,000 (depending on experience) plus a car or allowance, pension and healthcare.
An excellent Senior Health & Safety Advisor role offering autonomy and career progression for an experienced construction Health & Safety professional with main contractor experience. A fantastic opportunity to develop your career.
