Senior Project Manager

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will ensure that allocated projects are completed in an effective, economic manner and to a high quality standard complying with the Company Procedures and the client's requirements; thereby ensuring the procurement of repeat business from the Client. Your role will be too effectively and professionally monitor and supervise site works including subcontract packages, deliver in accordance with company procedures, programme requirements and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintain the culture whereby everyone is continually seeking to satisfy customer requirements.
* Ensure systems are in place in order that quality of work is to the prescribed standards.
* Manage staff and operative development
* Plan, co-ordinate, maintain and develop staff and operative levels to undertake current and prospective workloads.
* Monitor and record individual performances encouraging and disciplinary as and when necessary.
* Assist the estimator in preparation of Project budget
* Review project plans and specifications, schedule possible cost savings and identify any Construction problems.
* Review site risk registers and follow maintenance and management processes
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, sustainability, quality and other statutory requirements



Site Management & Health & Safety Management:

* Plan and co-ordinate project prior to commencement.
* Attend external pre-start meeting and make initial contact with clients.
* Co-ordinate and control initial set up including installing Company systems and procedures.
* Control and monitor progress of the works.
* Administer the valuation system, maximise cash flow and profitability.
* Implement strict financial controls on subcontractors, suppliers and operatives.
* Actively lead this initiative and provide the environment, equipment support and monitoring to continuously promote this ideal at all levels within the Company.



Experience and Qualifications:

* You will have experience of working within different sectors of the Construction Industry, specifically on Design and Build, new build and refurbishment and fit out projects.
* You will hold a professional qualification HNC/ ONC / HND / Degree in Project Management or Construction Management
* Technical training to maintain and develop technical competence and awareness in the following:
* IOSH or equivalent qualification
* Hold a valid CSCS certification
* 5 day SMSTS
* Asbestos Responsible Person
* Fire safety
* Good working knowledge of Forms of Contract currently used within the Building and Civil Engineering industry
* Familiarity with and experienced in working to safe systems of work appropriate to the discipline
* Excellent leadership and management skills
* Management of a safe system of work
* Demonstrable experience of working as part of a team and with own initiative
* Solving problems and taking decisions
* Commercial acumen
* You will have experience of working for a main contractor.
* Good communication verbally and in written form.
* Present a clean and tidy site and have a good understanding of the considerate contractor's requirements to achieve high scores.
* Report all breach of Health and Safety Rules and Regulations to the Line Manager.
* Make recommendation of material and plant requirements to the site manager.
* Clean UK Driving license

* High degree of personal motivation
* Ability to work as part of a close knit management team and manage numerous activities / projects simultaneously - both short and long term.
* Ability to work on own initiative and with the minimum of supervision
* Outgoing personality essential for dealing directly with Clients and their design team
* Good negotiator
* Flexibility with regard to working across all areas of the business, and hours to meet the requirements of this challenging position.
