Our client - Your New Business:

Our client is Top 10 Ten Building Contractor operating across Yorkshire, with an established and continuously growing office in Leeds. This £70m+ turnover client is an organisation with more than 50 years' experience, they have a reputation for excellence in project delivery across multiple sectors, as well as an excellent name in looking after the development and welfare of their staff.

This success has been secured through their well-managed commitment to a variety of new build projects in the commercial, education and residential sectors - partnering with public and private sector bodies. Working on behalf of commercial and residential developers, healthcare and education authorities and private investors, they work on traditional Design & Build projects ranging in value between £3m and £25m, creating a diverse portfolio of projects that, as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, will enhance your career substantially. In addition, they have a significant forward order book, hence this expansion position.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will maintain commercial information to the contract/project, satisfying the needs of both the customer and company with particular focus on managing cost and value, tracking of contractual changes, reporting contract commercial performance and providing assistance and guidance to the commercial and site teams. You will also have the opportunity to support the development of an Assistant QS should this be of interest.

Your duties and responsibilities as a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

* Ensure the submission of relevant contract updates, including potential programme delays, issues or variations - to the business and to the client/customer where appropriate
* Forecast predicted spends, forecast project cash flows and prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts
* Manage and procure where necessary subcontractor accounts and performance, including ensuring that subcontractor payments are dealt with in accordance with relevant terms
* Ensure prompt and regular submission of main contract payment applications and ensure that subcontractor payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with subcontract terms
* Supervise, mentor and encourage all subordinate staff in their personal professional development, including ensuring assistant quantity surveyors' participation in the management of subcontractors
* Monitor subcontractors against programme and ensure direct reports do likewise and offer advice and support on problem areas
* Maintain and coordinate cost and value reporting covering - both direct and indirect costs - in compliance with the commercial reporting timetable

Your skills and experience required:

You will be suitably qualified for a Senior Quantity Surveyor Position (HND in construction or a similar, or superseding qualification). Your experience in design and build projects will be essential, and advantageous would be experience of managing two-stage tenders (although this isn't necessary). Having worked for a main contractor in the past, you will be comfortable acting as the commercial lead on construction projects ranging in value from £3m - £20m, and your ability to handle contract and cost variations, subcontractor negotiations and supplier procurement will stand you in great stead to succeed.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a package totalling up to £60k including a car/car allowance and significant fringe benefits including a mobile phone, lap top, contributory pension and flexible working arrangements.
