A UK Top 10 Construction Business are offering an exceptional opportunity to join the business at a promising time. Having built their reputation over the last 20 years' on major projects, this building contractor are growing their North West Construction division to unprecedented heights. Building on a reputation for timely delivery to an industry-leading standard, they have secured a number of traditional design & build contracts across the North West and boast a full order book of such contracts for the foreseeable future.

With a turnover excess of £100m, the business is in an exceptional financial condition - and this is testament to how well it is managed. Partnering with prestigious private sector, commercial developers as well as public sector institutions, they have become a major force in residential and high-rise building, and their Manchester office has grown massively over the last 5 years as a result. Because of this expansion and the continued success in winning contracts, new career opportunities have arisen. Furthermore, you'll be working with a hands-on, conscientious Commercial Director who has a reputation in the industry for the development of staff at all levels.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have responsibility for operating as Number One on an £20m new build high-rise accommodation development in Manchester. With the spade not being in the ground yet, this is an opportunity to take the project from cradle to grave your way. Keen on maximising profitability and value, as any good Senior Quantity Surveyor will be, you will significantly contribute to the continued success and growing reputation of this contractor.

Your duties and responsibilities as a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the customer/client business(es) and ensure reports (including board reports, CVRs and schedules) to the client and the Directors are accurate, timely and forewarn of any potential issues
* Procure and manage subcontractor accounts and performance, including managing subcontractors against programmes/schedules
* Forecast predicted spends, forecast project cash flows and prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts
* Manage the workload and development of an Assistant or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, ensuring their resource is allocated appropriately

* Ensure submission of payment applications and ensure that subcontractor payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with subcontract terms

Your skills and experience required:

You will be suitably qualified for a Senior Quantity Surveyor Position (HND in construction or a similar, or superseding qualification including a degree in Quantity Surveying, for exmaple). Design & Build contracts will be your "bread and butter", and specifically you'll have experience of being a number one Senior Quantity Surveyor on a similar sized project (£10m and above). Experience of managing more junior surveyors would be desirable, and an eye for where the company can save - or make - money will be highly advantageous. You;ll also be a relationship-builder, able to successfully manage different personalities across site, offices, clients and subcontractors.
