Job Description

The Business and the Senior Quantity Surveyor role:

My client is a well-financed main contractor, backed by an international construction consultancy. With offices in Merseyside and South Cheshire, the business has seen a recent period of sustained growth (over the last 5 years) and are taking on a series of exciting student accommodation new build projects.

Initially placed as Number One on a £12-£15m student accommodation project in Cheshire you'll be responsible for the project from day one; procuring subcontractors and managing them to planned schedules and contract terms. You'll also manage a small team of project and assistant quantity surveyors who will support you in maximising value on this exciting student accommodation project from the word go.
With a pipeline of future projects on acquired land across the North West, there are opportunities and longevity for your career with this main contractor - a great time to join the business.

With maximising value being of huge importance, this Senior Quantity Surveyor role comes with real involvement and responsibility for your project, as well as the opportunity to contribute significantly to company growth. Based on site in Cheshire, you will take the lead in managing all the financial aspects of the contract and the £15m new build scheme, and subsequently moving on to future projects.

Your duties and responsibilities as Senior Quantity Surveyor:

* Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the client (the associated developer) and ensure reports (including board reports, CVRs and schedules) to the client and the Directors are accurate, timely and forewarn of any potential issues
* Procure and manage subcontractor accounts and performance, including managing subcontractors against programmes/schedules
* Forecast predicted spends, forecast project cash flows and prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts
* Ensure submission of payment applications and ensure that subcontractor payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with subcontract terms
* Procure and manage subcontractor packages, and ensure they are dealt with fairly and in accordance with all contract paperwork
* Ensure payment applications are dealt with in a timely manner
* Supervise, mentor and encourage Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyors in their personal professional development where appropriate, including ensuring their resource is allocated appropriately

Your skills and experience required:

Qualified to HNC or degree level (for example, BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent), you'll be able to demonstrate commercial astuteness and an ability for maximising value on projects, helping to highlight to the business any potential money-making opportunities.

You will be comfortable demonstrating experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (number one) in a new build, ideally with experience on projects greater than £5m in value. You'll relish the chance to remain hands on, working collaboratively with site teams rather than basing yourself purely in the office. You will have experience in procuring and managing subcontractor packages, and be passionate about effectively contributing to enhancing profitability across the business' operations.

Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:

Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a salary of up to £50,000 plus a car/car allowance and significant fringe benefits including a mobile phone, lap top, contributory pension and good holiday allowances.

This role is perfect for a main contracting Senior Quantity Surveyor that is seeking a number one role in which they can accelerate their career progression. The projects involved will also look exceptional on your CV.
Please get in touch today with George Lucking, Commercial Specialist on 0151 230 1690 / 07860 270 738 for more details on opportunities available, or apply direct below with your CV.
