Job Description

The business

One of our strongest clients, this £multi-million turnover regional construction contractor demonstrates an exceptional reputation in the construction of residential and commercial properties across the North Wales, Chester and Wirral region. Continued success across the business and the upturn in construction has led to significant expansion of live and upcoming design and build projects, and as such we are looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the high functioning commercial team based in North Wales.

The success of this business in recent years has emerged from the successful and mutually respectful partnerships with private and public sector clients. Projects ranging up to £25m in value make the business exciting, and the variety of contracts makes it a unique job role. Operating across North Wales (predominantly along the A55) and throughout Chester/West Cheshire, you will have the perfect opportunity to develop your career by ensuring maximum value across high profile contracts in residential or commercial sectors.

The role - duties, responsibilities and experience

An experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be joining a business that is on an exciting upward curve. Working alongside a talented commercial team and with a supportive board of directors, you'll manage one or two projects (depending on the values) and be comfortable running fast-paced construction jobs. Taking on the below responsibilities, you'll have a busy, challenging and rewarding career move:

* Ensuring that project value is maximised through careful and intricate management of costs, budgets, schedules and subcontractor performance
* Maintain contract reports and ensure internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date with project progress - including the raising of any potential issues
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with operational teams, directors, clients and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of projects to budget
* Procure and manage multiple subcontractor accounts as appropriate to varying construction projects
* Use strong negotiation skills to ensure maximum value on all projects, whilst ensuring subcontractors are managed fairly and in accordance with contract terms
* Forecast predicted spends and variations, and prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts
* Support the development of assistant quantity surveyors where appropriate

Qualified to degree level (for example, BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent), you'll be able to demonstrate commercial astuteness, an ability to manage more than one project or package at once (where appropriate), and strong negotiation skills - the ingredients to being a successful Senior Quantity Surveyor. You'll also demonstrate drive and ambition; a passion for what you do and for your career will set you apart from the rest of the market… and open the door to this fantastic opportunity.
