Job Description

Our client is a specialist Interior fit out contractor operating within the UK. They are looking for a Technical Designer to join their team.

Technical Designer

To provide quality integrated technical design drawings and site surveys which confirm to BIM (Building Information Modelling) standards and satisfy our customer and supplier requirements.



Key Tasks and Responsibilities:



* To regularly receive a design brief from within the business, discuss and negotiate with Technical Design (BIM) Manager to identify the course of action for the design need - internal/external
* To interact and work closely with key stakeholders (Relationship Managers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators) using the support of our Approved Inspectors to provide technical assistance as required

* To establish relevant levels of drawing/technical information required for individual projects both for the client and manufacturer

* To carry out site surveys of retail projects, drawing up the site survey detail and producing a detailed set of drawings (which include elevations, GA, RCP, door schedules, floor schedules etc.)

* Create and develop 2D & 3D working drawings from sketches, surveys or descriptions from our clients or project managers.

* To review own drawings for completeness prior to checking from team members and maintain all revisions of project drawings.

* To manage the design expectations in light of the customer requirements and prioritise personal work allocations accordingly (frequently updating the resource software)
* To adhere to BIM standards by modelling, detailing and as appropriate creating Revit families in response to project needs
* Keep abreast of changes to regulations and legislation and ensure that these are reflected in working practices and procedures

* Carry out other duties relevant to your post as reasonably required by management



Qualifications:

Essentials:

* A Levels or equivalent
* Valid UK driving licence

Desirables:

* Degree or equivalent qualification

Experience/Knowledge:



* 5+ year's production experience in design, drafting or engineering
* Experience within or understanding of Retail Design
* 2+ years surveying experience
* Faro and product design skills



Skills:

* Superb eye for detail
* Full working knowledge on AutoCAD
* Excellent organisation skills with a high attention to detail.
* Competent with Microsoft Office programmes such as Excel.
* Knowledge of 3D software e.g. Google sketch up or equivalent

* Previous experience with working with architectural plans.
* In-depth working knowledge of current BIM versions with the emphasis on Revit

Personal qualities:

* Ability to use time productively, maximise efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
* Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently
* Must be prepared to travel throughout the UK and Europe when required.
