Job Description

The Temporary Clerk of Works should either have Decent Homes experience or Welsh Housing Quality Standard experience in both internal and external refurbishment - kitchen & bathroom replacements, internal decoration works, etc. You will be part of a small Project Team who is responsible for monitoring the onsite works and inspections for a kitchen and bathroom replacement programme.

The main requirements will be on site inspections and ensuring that Contractors are adhering to the specification. This post will be carrying out Pre Entry Surveys of tenanted properties, and post Inspections of the work on completion.

Prior Contract Management and experience in a Clerk of Works position is essential for this position.

You will also be required to go to site to assess properties where building knowledge will be necessary where structural works may be required to support achievement in managing the Welsh Housing Quality Standard in the kitchen.

Most properties undergo a refurbishment of the kitchen and bathroom, which, includes extensive building works.

Produce a Clerk of Works report for completed properties and present findings (overview) at monthly progress meetings.

Daily Duties:

* Inspect and detect materials and workmanship which do not comply with the contract specifications and advise the Contract Administrator or Project Manager



* Carry out Pre Entry surveys with kitchen designers and Contractors, prepare reports and assist the Contract Administrator in the preparation of schedules of defects.



* Ensure that variations and omissions to the contract works are properly executed and that corrective action has been taken on all listed defects.



* Prepare formal documents and reports, in relation to monthly progress, defects, materials and installation testing, handovers, etc.



* Make and retain a complete record of all relevant matters.



* Liaise with tenants and ensure satisfaction levels are maintained



* Check for basic and general health and safety requirements on site





Ideal Candidate:

* Experience of working in a multi discipline environment



* Experience of working in the Public Housing sector



* Ability to build good relations with Clients/Tenants



* To be able to deal with tenants in a professional, friendly and considerate manner



* Ability to work under own initiative and meet deadlines



* Proficient in IT (Microsoft Office, Excel & Databases)



* Ability to produce and disseminate detailed and accurate reports
