Job Description

A Tenancy Support worker is needed for a social housing association based in North Wales.

You will be working as part of an established housing support team ensuring that residents receive the guidance and support agreed by the project and provide assistance with their preparations for moving on to more independent housing. You will be carrying out assessments and sign-ups with new residents, explain tenancy conditions, rent payment arrangements and any scheme policies and procedures, agree inventory of furniture/equipment and ensure residents are settled in well.

In this role you will also be identifying and reviewing support needs through effective support planning ensuring residents receive the support they need either from the service or signposting to external agencies. Ensuring all administration is up to date on a daily basis, including handover notes, communications systems and resident's files/support plans is extremely important. You will liaise with a range of partner agencies in relation to your support of customers whilst participating in on-going staff training and support.As part of the team, you will have a shared responsibility for the efficient running of the scheme, including responsibility for Health and Safety on the premises, residents, contractors and visitors with guidance from your line manager where necessary.

To provide advice and assistance to clients at risk of homelessness

* To provide visiting daytime support to clients within our Dispersed Service
* To work within allocated time-frames for facilitating move-ins as per applicants' priority status
* To ensure all new clients to the service receive a full and comprehensive induction of the property and the support service
* To devise and implement a Service Plan between the worker and the service user
* To work as part of the main Service Plan with clients to register with Property Pool Plus and develop a realistic resettlement plan
* To support clients to resolve debt issues
* To support clients to access voluntary work, training and work-based learning opportunities
* To create, manage and maintain service user files
* To initiate and carry out regular case reviews ensuring clients are on the right path to achieve their potential
* To report back on key performance indicators to the Adult Services Manager.



The successful Tenancy Support Worker will have:

* An NVQ Level 3 in Housing / Homelessness or Health & Social Care
* Previous experience in a similar post supporting outreach services, hostel provision or a residential settings
* Relevant experience of case work
* Working knowledge of barriers facing clients with repeat homelessness / eviction histories; mental health issues; substance misuse issues; refugee status and complex needs
* Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding procedures and legislation
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload of vulnerable adults with varying support needs
* Confidence and ability to lone work, manage minor situations that present difficulties for clients; and advocate on behalf of clients who may also have multiple support needs and complex behaviours.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to consistently record relevant support and assistance facilitated to clients.
