Job Description
CAD Draughtsperson / Furniture DesignerOur client is a long established small family run company of bespoke furniture makers based in Newcastle-under-Lyme specialising in the manufacture and installation of absolute quality, high class interiors. They are currently involved in a very high specification project in South Cheshire but predominantly we work alongside companies in London (Kensington & Chelsea) for the fitting out of prestigious houses.
THE ROLE
Our client is looking for experienced and driven candidates to join their team in the role of a CAD designer/draughtsperson. The role will entail the design of made to measure commercial or domestic pieces of fine furniture, either from a clean sheet of paper or from concept drawings from architects/designers or client. Designs must be fit for purpose and achievable in budget and timescale.
Candidates must be considerate of many factors including the materials used, construction method, lighting, usability, installation constraints/site conditions and many others. This role will give you the opportunity to travel the UK to visit the clients, the job sites to take site dimensions, discuss the requirements of the job and to then continue to design and see your projects through to completion.
Ability to self-manage and work to deadlines is essential, as it being part of not only the design team but also working closely with the workshop team as your working drawings come to life.
Role can present to you the opportunity to apply your own design flair and style into your work, or alternatively you can work with the company director (who is lead designer) to create items as a mutual effort.
Ideal candidates MUST have prior experience of furniture manufacture, woodworking design & construction, 2D & 3D CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Sketchup) and you will receive training on our latest package IMOS (Previous experience of this would be amazing)
The role will undertaken at our custom made workshop in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Monday to Thursday 8AM to 5PM, Friday 8AM to 1 PM. You may sometimes need to work long hours and at weekends to meet deadlines. First 8 hours overtime is time and half, anything above 8 hours is double pay.
