Job Description

Context of the Role

To provide cleaning and caretaking services to communal blocks including, sheltered accommodation and office buildings, taking responsibility and ownership for their appearance, security and safety. To assist the teams that undertake this work and to ensure a high quality of service and delivery

Overall Job Purpose

Work as part of a team to provide quality cleaning and maintenance of internal and external areas as scheduled and to the agreed specification. Duties including; mopping, sweeping, dusting, window cleaning, cleaning of carpets, walls, door frames, light fixtures, graffiti removal, unblocking gullies, litter picking, fly tip removal, jet washing, weed and moss clearance and handyman duties.

Principle Accountabilities

* To undertake daily cleaning & caretaking duties to ensure service standards are met.
* To investigate and assist the Estates Services Supervisor in identifying the origin of fly tipping, to include on site investigation, door to door enquiries and letter posting.
* Removal of bulky rubbish/ fly tipping from communal areas where the identity of its origin is unknown, in line with agreed response times.
* Cleansing of communal areas including play areas and local centres to include fly tipping removal, litter picking and hand sweeping of detritus including removal of weed growth from pathways and communal gardens.
* To conduct regular Quality Inspections of communal areas in all flatted blocks and estates to identify any Health & Safety hazards, issues or problems relating to building, grounds maintenance and security.
* To identify and carry out minor repairs and resolving trip hazards, to improve the appearance and maintenance and fabric of all buildings, taking ownership and responsibility for the buildings and its surrounding environment.
* To act as the eyes and ears reporting issues such as incidents of crime, vandalism, dog fouling, littering, tenancy contraventions and anti-social behaviour to the appropriate service within the Halton Housing and external agencies for action.
* Checking the operation of fire, sprinkler and entry phone systems, reporting damage or faults to the Customer Services Team to arrange repair.
* To respond to complaints or enquiries from customers relating to the Caretaking Service, advising customers where necessary and sign post to other internal services and external agencies
* To be responsible for keys to communal areas.
* To carry out any other duties as required to assist with service delivery.

Skills/Knowledge Required

Desirable (D)

* Experience in cleaning and caretaking services.
* An awareness of health and safety regulations
* Drivers Licence
* Experience of using mobile technology.

To be self-motivated/proactive to achieve high standards and work using own initiative.

* City & Guilds Level 2 Cleaning & support Services skills/BICS
* ROSPA - Routine Inspection and Maintenance
* NPTC Unit PA1 - Safe Use of Pesticides
* NPTC Unit PA6 - Use of Hand held applicator
