Job Description

Our client is a highly respected general contractor providing construction services across the North West of England for over 25 years.

Their head office located in Warrington covering projects in North West of England.

Their M/D has a plethora of experience within the construction industry spanning over 30 years.

They have a strong presence and offer a complete construction service that incorporates projects from £500K - £30m in Design and Build, New Build, Fit out and Refurbishment in all of the following sectors:

* Healthcare
* Education
* Leisure
* Commercial
* Retail
* Industrial
* Residential
* Listed Building

As part of the long term Group Strategy the business is recruiting for a Commercial Director.

About you:

You will have a least two years' experience within a senior management capacity along with having the ability to look after a large commercial team. You will also have worked with reputable contractors along with having a good understanding of JCT, PPC200, NEC and PSPC contracts within the Building Sectors.


* you will be responsible the Quantity Surveying department, which consists of 26 Quantity Surveyors of varying, levels.
* You will conduct monthly cost value reconciliation reviews and prepare reports for the monthly board meetings, which include current profit and loss statements, forecast profit and loss statements, and workload forecasts.
* You will be part of the bid team looking and advising on the commercial aspects of bids.
* You will carry out commercial reports on all commercial tenders to identify areas of risk and commercial opportunity.
* You will work closely with the Financial Director in order to maintain a strict cash management process for the business.
* You will be responsible for implementing process and procedure in order to have a uniform approach to all aspects of the Quantity Surveying department.
* You will be the commercial representative for the company at many of the management meetings.
* You will ensure the Quantity Surveyors maintain as a priority the core functions such as Subcontract procurement, interim valuations, budget monitoring, and forecasting, financial management of Subcontractors and agreement of final accounts with Subcontractors and the Client.
* You will be responsible for setting up risk management strategies for individual projects using the company's standard procedures. Which include risk identification, elimination or management of the risk.
* You will be responsible for setting up and monitoring a strategy for the development of the Quantity Surveying staff including all the required support if they wish to progress towards their professional qualification.
* You will be responsible for the resolution and management of any disputes with Subcontractors. Identifying them at an early stage and implementing strategies for their speedy resolution.
* You will be responsible for reviewing contract documentation (JCT, PPC200, NEC and PSPC) including amendments.
* You will have forged close collaborative working relations with a number of key clients.
