Roofing Estimator, Manchester

Our client is a successful, well respected and fast-growing pitched (slating / tiling) and flat (single ply membrane and liquid systems) Roofing Sub-Contractor based in Liverpool.

They are currently active in new build and refurbishment; Social Housing, Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Accommodation (student), Leisure and Retail; Blue Light, Private and Public sector;

They are currently looking to recruit a skilled, highly ambitious, influential, highly capable and experienced estimator to assist the Company to deliver strong growth targets that have been put in place for the next 5 years, and therefore, need an individual who has a depth of knowledge and experience in this role.

As the successful applicant, you will have a proven track record as Roofing Estimator, coupled with strong commercial acumen. You will demonstrate integrity, a hard working ethic and target focused, whilst embracing the challenges and changes within the industry. Your tenacity, dedication and team spirit will ensure the success in the delivery of key business objectives.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, as the Estimator you will be working closely with the Business Development, Quantity Surveying and Operational staff, managing enquiries from receipt, Client interface, site visits through to full tender submissions.

The Managing Director wants to create success for all his team, directly for the business but as importantly for his employees so that they can successfully develop their careers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Management of incoming enquiries in conjunction with sales (including the management of the pre-construction database) Technical on site measurement, taking off quantities from drawings and BoQ preparation

Managing risks and opportunities

Develop tender strategy and Supply Chain relationships

Experience of using estimating software

Facilitate the successful handover of estimates to the Contracts and Operation departments

Communicate accurate and timely information to the team

Conduct research to obtain data on labour costs, materials and productivity periods

Grow and develop the

Estimating department in line with the Company growth strategy

Ensuring compliance with the contract drawings and specifications

Keep up to date with industry best practice and Regulations

Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience as an Estimator within pitched slating and tiling, single ply membranes and all associated aspects of the roofing industry, including both new build and refurbishment projects.



Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to challenge and resolve problems to conclusion

Hard working, highly motivated self-starter and bringing credibility

Salary: To be negotiable depending on experience
