Job Description
The clientThe business is a large corporate group which incorporates a housing organisation, maintenance and construction contractor, charity and commercial contracting division. Having won an award for being a top employer in the North West, the business has a unique working environment and culture, and is known for being an excellent place to work.
The diverse risk profile here makes it a fantastic opportunity to broaden your Health & Safety career, with responsibility covering:
* Corporate and office Health & Safety (including DSEs, stress management)
* Construction Health & Safety - maintenance, new build and refurbishment in housing, hospital and site environments
* Tenant and Housing safety
* Facilities and property Management
The Head of Health & Safety role:
Together, the client and I are looking for a Head of Health & Safety who is strategically minded, but also capable of actively supporting the rest of the team with maintaining high standards of Health & Safety (and Environmental) performance. The role incorporates the line management of two Health & Safety Advisors, as well as the development and implementation of a group-level Health & Safety strategy.
Ideally, you will be CMISOH level with experience in a Group Manager / Head of Health & Safety level role, or an H&S manager position ready for a step up to more strategic responsibility. A confident and passionate leader, you will organise your team to work effectively alongside you, and work closely with operational managers, directors and clients to bring together a Health & Safety strategy and culture that works across the varying sectors of operation.
Your skills and experience:
A Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH, or actively working towards this) with either the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (NVQ Level 4, for example), you will be able to demonstrate success in developing a significant, positive Health & Safety culture in similar environments - including for example construction contractors, housing associations and large, fast paced construction and property businesses. Specific industry background is less important than an ability to demonstrate passionate leadership and an ability to analyse and improve H&S management systems and strategies.
Comfortable with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO45001, you will have a strong technical knowledge of Health & Safety systems and procedures, and an analytical mind about how these can be tweaked and improved to work together with the Health & Safety, Operational and Site teams to help develop and further improve Health & Safety performance. You'll be expected to produce board reports, and present to teams of senior managers and directors on the Health & Safety statistics and strategies.
Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:
Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a salary of up to £61,500, an exceptional pension scheme and generous holiday allowance and flexible working arrangements.
You'll also have a clear progression and development plan leading to the possibility of Health & Safety directorship in the next few years.
An exceptional Head of Health & Safety position with an opportunity to further enhance your reputation and career. A real opportunity to step up the ladder.
