Building Careers are currently recruiting for a freelance / temporary Income Officer in Liverpool. The key purpose of this position is the collection of income across all areas of debt recovery within the wider Neighbourhood Team.

The client is passionate about building thriving communities, managing and maintaining 6,000 affordable homes across the North Liverpool Area.



Responsibilities:

* To manage current tenant and former tenant arrears in a designated patch within agreed policies and procedures, maximising income for the business.
* To represent the client at Small Claims Court where necessary in relation to rechargeable repairs.
* To refer customers to the Benefits Advice Team and other relevant agencies to ensure customers receive all appropriate advice and assistance to assist them to manage their rent and other financial affairs
* To effectively liaise with the Benefits Advice Team and other relevant agencies to maximise any welfare benefit entitlement for tenants
* To liaise with external agencies to support tenants
* To prepare & present all appropriate documentation for the acceleration of debt recovery in line with agreed procedures
* To work closely with debt collection agencies to refer cases where appropriate aimed at maximising collection of former tenant arrears
* To meet high levels of performance in line with the business plan as well as individual targets and goals



Requirements:

* Good knowledge of welfare benefits systems
* Experience in housing
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
* Excellent communication skills, with a confident and polite telephone manner
