Managing Quantity Surveyor - Fit Out

Our client is a National Fit Out Contractor with regional offices in Warrington.

They require a Managing Surveyor to take day-to-day management of the commercial function.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role of Managing Surveyor will assist in financial and contractual control and co-ordination of specified projects to the budgeted cost, programme and ultimately to the Client's satisfaction. You will also undertake Quantity Surveying functions on the larger, more complex projects undertaken by the business and have overall commercial responsibility for the projects within their business control and to take responsibility for the activities of surveying staff under your direct control.

You will be expected to show a great deal of proactivity as the role will be relatively autonomous, with regular meetings scheduled with the Commercial Manager to review overall commercial performance. You will provide monthly reports to the Commercial Manager on all commercial matters. As such you will need to gather all the salient information from the QS team and then report that via monthly reporting templates. You will be expected to have interrogated CVR's, cash, accruals etc. and present your findings in a formal written manner, escalating any risks and proposed action plans.

You will create effective working relationships with Contracts Managers and associated project delivery team members to drive a unified team approach across all workloads and enhance our capabilities to undertake a full self-managed delivery solution to key clients. You will be expected to collaborate effectively with our in-house M&E team to delivery efficiencies through a true 'One Team' approach - one CVR, one project QS, preliminaries and such like. You will maintain effective communications throughout the contract delivery, providing advice on project needs to ensure adequate commercial support is provided. You will also provide input to employee development and succession planning through the Company's IPR and talent management processes.

Strong leadership and team management skills, coupled with a decisive problem solving ability and excellent time management skills are imperative to this role. In addition, you should have excellent communications skills as you will be required to express your opinions both in writing and verbally at internal and external meetings.

Skills & Experience

* At least 5 years' experience in a QS role
* Corporate membership of a professional body (RICS) is desirable
* Must have pre and post contract experience
* Experience of completing end of month financial reports and be comfortable presenting the information to the board when required/requested by the commercial manager
* Strong understanding of all forms of contract: NEC3, JCT etc
