Job Description

Bid Manager.

Permanent Role: £45,000 - £65,000 Warrington.

My client are a leading gas and energy engineering specialist, working with UK gas asset owners to design, build and maintain critical national infrastructure.

My client manage multiple gas transmission and distribution contracts of varying values and are expecting to increase their turnover by 50% in the next 3 years, so now is a brilliant time to join our business.

There has never been a better time to join my client we're an entrepreneurial, forward-thinking Group with a pipeline of work which will see our turnover hit £1 billion in the next 5 years. This is hugely ambitious but we know we can do it with the right people on board. We have an urgent requirement for an experienced Estimator to join our Energy business and provide support to the work winning team in the pursuit of new business opportunities. If you are an Estimator with a background in utilities and infrastructure, this is the role for you.

Specific Responsibilities

Take ownership of tenders as they are received.

Undertake site tender visits to gain understanding of requirements and to enable the preparation of a winning submission.

Review tender documents, including design and contractual documents, to produce a suitable construction programme.

Develop resource schedules based on programme to be provided to Estimating team.

Liaise with supply chain to obtain tender price and programme and identify key risks.

Liaise with Operations Director to develop construction philosophy and assign teams.

Co-ordinate tendering activities with work winning team such that proposals, pre-qualification and tender support objectives are achieved to cost, quality and time.

Carry out independent and critical reviews of submission documents.

Develop risk and opportunity register for each tender.

Support Senior Management Team at tender sign off meetings.

Lead tender handover meetings with operational team upon successful award of a project.

Visit live construction sites to understand the performance of projects to inform future tenders.

Attend post tender review meetings to determine lessons learnt and ensure these are fed back into subsequent submissions.

Any other duties reasonably assigned.

Gas / Pipelines / Cross Country Utilities experience ideally as a Project Manager or Construction Manager.

Technical background with solid understanding of construction principles.

Civil and mechanical experience would be beneficial.
