Job Description

Our client, a Top Tier Main Contractor PLC based in the North West, are looking for a Pre Construction Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate as our client is offering excellent salaries and future opportunities for progression.

Our client is keen on agile working so you can work from home 4 days a week and they will consider both Estimators & Quantity Surveyors with suitable experience.



Main Responsibilities:

The following tasks are not in priority order

1 Analysing drawings to produce costs and additional costs
2 Check specification against drawing and current client standards including BSI/ISO, Building Regulations
3 Produce Bills of Quantities with costing for all requirements including quantity, amount, unit rate, labour & plant resources and constants
4 Produce net cost tender document for the relevant project
5 Provide input into possible areas of risk on project to Estimating Director for discussion at tendering process
6 Attend client meetings to discuss tender
7 Visit site for relevant tender process
8 Discuss with clients or employer agent where necessary on tender issues and queries
9 Discuss with subcontractor's work involved on proposed projects

10.Provide input on successful tenders to WJS departments when required

11.Arrange handover of all relevant documentation for successful tender with WJS departments

12.Provide regular update reports to Estimating Director

13.Provide comparison schedules of subcontractors and supplier costs

14.Calculation of prices using Estimating software package

15.Compile estimates including monitoring prices to identify compliant and non-compliant prices and source additional/ alternative prices

16.Provide tracking correspondence for pricing enquiries

17.Provide regular updates to Estimating Director and Estimator on work and discuss issues on a regular basis to develop own learning

18.Liaise, provide support and to develop Estimating Assistant to Estimator role

19.Liaise, provide support and delegate tasks to Estimating Assistant

1 Identify training needs of Estimating Assistant and provide details to Training and Development Manager

21.Ensure that subcontract and supplier data base is up to date 22.

Other tasks as required

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

* Requiring education/ qualifications to a level of NVQ 4, Degree, HND or equivalent experience.
* Basic Word and Excel knowledge
* Good knowledge of estimating software
* Assertive and strong persuasion skills
