Quantity Surveyor - Marine Sector

Liverpool Based

Project: North west marine landmark £200m+

We've got a great new Quantity Surveyor position up for grabs and if you're the right person for the job there'll be no shortage of landmark projects for you to get stuck into, as part of our specialist Quantity Surveying Infrastructure Team (QSI).

The ins and out of the role -

A fantastic opportunity to work on a landmark Northwest based project which Is at the forefront of the World's marine and port sector. With constant investment into the project, you will be working within a dynamic and innovative environment.

Collaborating alongside a highly skilled team you will be involved in a wide array of schemes to manage the maintenance and development of the port. Projects range from warehousing, pontoons, river entrance caissons, dock and quay works, swing bridges, hydraulic systems, surfacing works and fender upgrades.

The role will be to work alongside the Capital Projects team to support delivery, with a focus on commercially managing the projects from inception to completion.

About you -

* Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying
* Working towards becoming chartered - The client will pay your subscription and fully support you on this journey
* Proven experience within a Quantity Surveyor role ideally from a heavy civil engineering background
* Ideally experience derived from the likes of marine/port/bridge/road/water or sewage sectors
* Sound NEC3 contract experience - preferably option A
* Experience of forecasting and reporting
* High attention to detail focused on successful project delivery
* Excellent communication skills
* Keen desire to build and maintain client relationships

Deliver a quality service to clients by carrying out the following tasks:

* Oversee and run projects from conception to completion, managing and controlling the costs of the scheme on behalf of the client.


* To support the PM with stakeholder engagement and to help the Port Directors understand progress against budgets and Capex Prep e.g. Risk Register
* Assess the needs of the project and liaise with Procurement to ensure appropriate models are selected
* Support the PM & Procurement team in the tender process
* Attend client briefing meetings
* Support PM and procurement in review of works and site information
* Cost planning preparation including inputting, measuring, issuing, and presenting
* Tailor the proforma contract to the appropriate risk profile, collate and add finishing touches (Capture Tender Queries / clarifications / CDP2 / etc)
* Review contractor proposals in detail including costs and quantities
* Clarify and issue tender addendums if required
* Meet contractor and discuss their proposals
* Review, query and agree contract
* Write and post approval forms for project sign off
* Ensure the contract documentation is signed and in place before commencement on site


* Attend prestart meetings
* Lead on assessment and produce payment documentation
* Write/respond to EW's and initiate necessary Risk Reduction Meetings
* Write/respond, assess CE's (maintain registers)
* Support PM in writing of PMI's, programme review, site meetings, review of handover documents and maintaining of registers
* Prepare and submit monthly CFR's (Cost / Forecast Reconciliation) using SAP to manage master forecast and master risk registers alongside project costs and cashflow
* Support PM in the preparation of the board slide pack
* Attend progress meetings
* Deal with day-to-day actions and correspondence as required
* Control and manage all financial and contractual issues arising
* Ensure all commercial actions arising from the meetings are carried out
* Release defects certificate 12 months after completion
