Quantity Surveyor/Estimator

Our client is a respected Liverpool based Sub & Main Contractor based in Liverpool who currently have a great opportunity for a QS / Estimator to replace a gentleman who is retiring.

You will play a key part in achieving their mission to produce quality projects on time, within budget and to the highest standard, to the satisfaction of their designers and clients.

You'd be joining an innovative, energetic, down to earth, and friendly team.

Your challenge would be to assist the team with all aspects of contractual and financial side of our projects, working from tender stage through to completion.

You will be an organised person working in a similar role and know what it takes to prioritise a range of tasks with little supervision. You'll be a people person with great communication skills and be self-motivated and trustworthy.

Responsibilities include:

* Prepare estimates for construction projects
* Prepare contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
* Handover projects that have been secured to the construction team.
* Value changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly.
* Prepare monthly valuations and applications for payment and prepare, submit and agreed Final Accounts and other contractual entitlements.
* Produce CVRs and updates for senior management.
* Procure or agree the services of contractors and/or subcontractors who work on the construction of the project
* Value the payment of subcontractors and prepare and agree final accounts.
* Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers
* Select and/or source construction materials and plant
* Write reports
* Assist colleagues whenever necessary


* At least 5 years proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
* RICS qualification desirable
* Pre and post contract experience in new build, refurbishment, design and build, healthcare amongst other areas of construction
* Analytical mind
* Ability to negotiate
* Experience of different forms of contract JCT, NEC, etc.
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
* Familiarity with office management procedures
* Excellent knowledge of MS Office, and other office management software
* Good attention to detail
* Ability to stay calm under pressure
* Good at organisation skills, ability to be able to juggle tasks and prioritise
* A great team player
* A desire to show initiative
* Main contractor and sub-contractor experience is desirable

Salary negotiable, depending upon experience

Salary: up to £45,000.00 per year
