Senior Quantity Surveyor - Sub-Contractor

Job Description

Our client is seeking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to manage the commercial aspects of our projects. This specialised subcontractor is focused on delivering vibro stone columns, driven piling, CFA piling, restricted access piling and pile & ground beam package systems. We are looking for an individual with significant experience working for subcontractor organisations (ideally in the piling industry) with an expert knowledge of JCT contracts and collateral warranties.



Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role will involve:

* Working closely with the Associate Operations Director to ensure the successful commercial management and outcome of each scheme from tender to final account stage
* Mentoring junior members of the business
* Negotiating and agreeing wording of sub-contracts and warranties with Clients
* Producing contractual communications as required
* Producing interim applications for payment
* Preparation and valuing of variations
* Agreement of final accounts
* Management of sub-contractors
* Producing cash flow forecasts
* Producing internal financial reports
* Producing commercial report for monthly board meeting
* Agreement of outstanding historical final accounts



The following are essential:

* Positive attitude and mindset
* Excellent time management, organisational, negotiation and communication skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages
* Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
* Extensive experience in the civil engineering industry in a commercial role
* Strong contractual knowledge of JCT form of subcontract
