Job Description

Working with a long standing and highly respected regional contractor I am currently helping to appoint a Senior Site/Project Manager to oversee delivery of a complex refurbishment scheme to an office development in South Manchester.

My client are a leading, privately owned contractor. They operate nationwide and have a long history of successfully delivering high value schemes for valued clients which is reflected in the fact that much of their workload is derived from repeat business clients.

Out of their Northern office, they have a prestigious scheme ongoing; a £6m complex cut & carve refurbishment of an office block in South Manchester.

The scheme is being overseeing by a strong team of long-standing staff including a Site Manager, Site Engineer and Commercial team. They now require a Senior Site/Project Manager to oversee this team through to project completion.

As number one on the scheme you will be in charge of all operational and commercial aspects of the project, ensuring that ultimately handover is within budget and to the required standard of high quality.
As such you will be experienced in delivering prestigious, city centre schemes of a minimum £5m, with a focus on maintaining excellent quality and H&S standards. You will have a minimum of 3 years experience operating at such level and on such schemes.

Responsibilities:

* Mid-contract and post-contract management
* Management of all activities on site ensuring compliance with the relevant standards and good practice
* Leading design and procurement aspects of project
* Liaising with Client
* Establish and monitoring of construction & target programmes
* Value engineering with your team, ensuring best value is achieved at all stages
* Responsibility for ensuring that all works are carried out to the drawings provided.
* Liaising closely with the professional team to ensure best practices are adopted, with all changes being agreed and drawings revised accordingly
* Responsible for the supervision/management of your construction site and team
* Monitoring sub-contract progress on site, ensuring programmes are monitored at all times
* Ensuring works are completed to a high standard and inspected prior to payment being made
* Ensuring that all variations are recorded, keeping accurate records of additional work carried out and liaising closely with your surveyor
* Attending client and sub-contract meetings
* Responsible for quality on site at all times
* Ensuring that all information is kept for the as-built file and making sure the as-built files are completed for the contract, including all statutory certificates from building control and the fire officer etc.
* Ensuring design responsibilities are distributed correctly
* Producing detailed minutes of client and sub contract meetings to ensure actions are distributed accurately to all concerned

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

* Solid main contracting background delivering projects minimum £5m value, for minimum 3 years.
* Appreciation of commercial surveying duties
* Ideally HNC/HND qualified in a relevant construction subject
* Relevant qualifications including CSCS, SMSTS, First Aid etc.
* Be IT literate with an understanding of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint

The role will attract a negotiable salary around a bracket of £50,000 to £60,000 plus full benefits package including company car or car allowance, pension contributions and health-care plan.
