Job Description

My client are a leading developer delivering major projects throughout the UK. They operate in the new build student accommodation, highrise residential apartments and new build housing sectors. They are a multi-million pound turnover group and a leader in their sectors of the construction industry.

Owing to an increase in work, across the wider group, they have a need to add a ambitious and up & coming Trainee level Design Manager to their technical team working on new build student accommodation schemes throughout the UK, based from their North Wales office.

This role would suit a newly graduated individual with a HND in Architecture or Construction Project Management or an under-graduate who is looking to find employment to go alongside their part-time studies at university.

The role will see you work closely with a Senior Design Manager, out of their regional office in North Wales, initially getting an understanding of the basics of the Design Management function but increasing their exposure to and knowledge of specific projects throughout the UK. With this would come weekly/bi-weekly travel and occasional stopping away depending on site locations. This will be fully paid for by the employer including lodge and accommodation.

Working with the Senior Design Manager, Specific objectives which you will work towards include;

* Check and co-ordinate with the Design Manager, information for the discharge of statutory obligations.
* Assist the Design Manager in site workshops, providing and reviewing design information.
* Check consultant drawings and reports against Building Control, HiMO and BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) requirements and advise any issues to the Design Manager.
* Collate and coordinate Design Stage and Post Completion evidence for BREEAM.
* Assist in the creation of site mobilisation and construction management plans.
* Assist the QA / Site teams with manufacturers' literature and building standards.
* Prepare for, attend and contribute to client and site design meetings as required - alongside your Design Manager.
* Periodically attend site to review construction works and attend workshops - alongside your Design Manager.
* Produce design information and schedules including pod handing schedules and postal address plans etc.
* Collate information such as design trackers and consultant's statement to assist DM in reporting.
* Assist with coordination of subcontractor work packages on VFP.
* Assist to collate O&M information throughout the project.
* Assist the Design Manager and construction teams in completing Project Deliverables at the end of the project.
* Assist in coordinating Considerate Constructor information.
* Assist the Design Manager with the coordination of third-party reports such as façade consultants.
* Produce sketch drawings as required for use by the team.
* Undertake regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities to build and maintain professional skills and knowledge.
* Live the brand - Present a professional, conscientious and customer-focussed image of the Group in through tangible, measurable actions; timely communications; collaborative interactions; and productive engagements with customers, clients, external stakeholders, partners and suppliers.
* Promote the brand - Utilise or contribute to the use of innovative, cost-effective and contemporary methods to present, promote, build and market the Group brand. This includes digital communications, printed materials, signage and other media.
* Follow reasonable management instructions.
